Volunteers are the key to our work here at St. Michael’s Veteran Center. We have young and old volunteers, some that come just a few hours per month and some who come several hours per week. We enjoy the support of the Elk Lodge, American Legion and Knights of Columbus Councils, Disabled Vets and other civic organizations that care about St. Michael’s Veteran Center. And, our largest group of volunteers are the residents themselves. These residents know what it means to serve and they are always ready to help any way they can.
You can join the great crew of volunteers, too. If you have an hour or two to spare just call or come down to enroll. We always need extra hands in the food pantry or planning special events. Maybe you have a great idea for our veterans you want to try. Either way, volunteers are the engine of St. Michael’s Veteran Center. Some ideas for how you can give your time at St. Michael’s:
Staff the on-site coffee shop
Organize the community garden planting, watering, weeding and harvesting
Plan off-campus field trips such as fishing, museum visits or sporting games
Manage and market the resident band
Lead exercise activities or organize sporting activities
The SMVCLeadership Council engages the community to support campus activities. If you like to engage others and
plan strategically, please consider joining the leadership council. Call 816-921-0201 or contact us.
Your donations fuel our mission to empower veterans and to realize a force of good that honors and encourages
service, shows respect to veterans and their families, and promotes community.

St. Michael’s Veterans Center envisions serving as a one-stop service center for all veterans seeking support in the Kansas City community.
